Davenport University offers new global project management specialty
CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich., April 17, 2008 – Davenport University has introduced a new specialty in Global Project Management (GPMT) within the bachelor of science in computer information systems. While coursework and experiential learning will focus primarily in the information systems and technology area, the program also provides students with the opportunity to explore and apply the concepts in other areas such as finance and healthcare. The program will help prepare students to complete the Project Management Institute (PMI) certification exam.
The 15-credit specialty, offered through the school of technology, prepares students for positions such as global IT project manager, process development project manager, failure analysis project manager, services account manager, and more.
“Five new courses were added just for this specialty,” said Reid Gough, dean of the school of technology. “A blend of business and technology courses, they reflect the university’s interdisciplinary philosophy,” added Gough. The program will be launched for the Fall 2008 semester at the Grand Rapids campus and through DU Online. DU is also planning to offer the GPMT specialty at the Livonia location opening this fall at 19499 Victor Parkway.
